After six years and 138 games at the helm of the Newmarket Town Ladies First Team, Kevin Parsons (KP) has made the difficult decision to step away from the Jockeys and take a break from football.
Before taking on the Ladies’ manager role, Kev contributed significantly across the club, supporting the coaching of youth teams, boys’ and girls’ U18s, as well as assisting with the Men’s First Team.
Kev has not only delivered memorable moments on the pitch as a manager, he has also played an instrumental part in shaping the club as it stands today. As a key member of the committee, he helped lead the transition from a grass pitch to the 4G surface that so many players and teams have been privileged to use since 2016.
On the pitch, Kev’s achievements include guiding the Jockeys to two major cup finals: the Women’s Invitation Cup Final at the Abbey Stadium in 2022, where the team faced the then National League South East side Cambridge City—and the League Cup Final in 2023. Fittingly, his final match on Sunday 7 December will once again be against Cambridge City.
Behind the scenes, Kev has been equally influential. He played a pivotal role in promoting youth development, handing 24 players from the club’s youth section their senior debuts and supporting their progression into the Ladies First Team. Together, these players have made a combined 437 appearances and contributed 64 goals. Under his leadership, the team also achieved its highest-ever league finish, securing 3rd place last season. Kev will be remembered throughout the club—especially by the players—for his professionalism, meticulous attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
We extend our sincere thanks to Kev for his dedication to the Committee and his contribution to the club’s growth over the years. Most importantly, we thank him for the support, guidance, and opportunities he has provided to so many teams and players.
Thank you, Kev. We wish you and your family every success in the future.
Once a Jockey, always a Jockey.
